  • 1611 King James Bible 400 Th Anniversary Edition
    카테고리 없음 2020. 2. 19. 23:48

Celebrating the 400 th Anniversary of the 1611 King James Version Bible. For 400 years, the Authorized Version of the Bible—popularly known as the King James Version—has been beloved for its majestic phrasing and stately cadences. No other book has so profoundly influenced our language and our theology. Over time, however, the text has suffered subtle and occasionally troublesome alterations. This attractive edition preserves the original 1611 edition. Word for word and page for page, the text with its original marginal notes, preface ('The Translators to the Reader'), and other introductory material appear as they first did. The sole concession to modernity is a far more readable roman typeface set by 19 th-century master printers.

Elegantly bound with old-world quality craftsmanship, this is the perfect edition of the incomparable King James Version for study and for sheer enjoyment. Features include. The only word-for-word facsimile of the original 1611 Authorized Version on the market. Handsome page design with clearer 19 th-century type and decorative initials is convenient to read and reference. The text is complete with the Apocrypha, original preface and translators' notes. Alfred Pollard's classic essay on pre-1611 English translations and the history of the Authorized Version is also included. Ribbon marker.

Gilded page edges. No other book has so profoundly influenced our language and our theology.

Over time, however, the text has suffered subtle and occasionally troublesome alterations. This edition preserves the original 1611 printing. Word for word and page for page, the text with its original marginal notes, preface, and other introductory material appears as it first did. The sole concession to modernity is a far more readable roman typeface set by nineteenth-century master printers. 'A valuable and essential addition to every Bible library.'

Kohlenberger III FEATURES. Original preface and translators' notes. Alfred Pollard's classic essay on pre-1611 English translations and the history of the Authorized Version. New essays on the enduring impact of the KJV and the Apocrypha. Handsome page design with decorative initials.

Page-edge gilding and ribbon marker (genuine leather only). Clear type is convenient to read and reference. Special logo on book spine and packaging commemorates the 400th Anniversary. Includes the Apocrypha. The publisher has been extremely deceptive with its claim of being a 'Word-for-word facsimile of the original 1611 Authorized Version.'

A 'facsimile,' by definition, is an 'exact copy of the original.' The original 1611 Authorized Version was printed with the gothic type face, as can be found in the Matthew's Bible of 1537.

The first English Bible to ever use the roman type face was the Geneva Bible, the Bible of the Protestants (the Authorized Version is the Bible of the Anglican church). If you want a true history of your Bible, you need to learn the history behind the Geneva Bible, as well as the history of every other English translation prior to the Geneva Bible. The KJV is not the history of the English Bible, nor was it the first English Bible. Our forefathers wanted NOTHING to do with the KJV when it was first published as it was a Bible of persecution, forcing people to use it. When Christians fled to the new world, they did so embracing their Geneva Bible-NOT the Authorized Version. While this edition is a great addition to anyone's library, as a link to the past, nevertheless it is NOT a facsimile copy of the original 1611. Just go to some websites that deal in Bible antiquities and look at the images from original KJVs.

They used gothic type face, NOT roman type face. In the same breath as claiming to be a 'facsimile of the original,' the publisher states, 'with clearer modern type.'

If the type face was reset, if any part of it was reset for you to print, then it is NOT a facsimile. A scan of the page is a facsimile.

A photocopy of the page is a facsimile. Anything that duplicates the page exactly as it is in an original and then reproduces it is a facsimile. This product was not produced that way.

Hendrickson is extremely deceptive with its claims here. It's a good quality item, but if you're looking for an actual replicated piece of the past, this item is NOT it!

I was disappointed to find some white spots on the spine, possibly salts weeping from the leather (which have since disappeared through handling) and quite a few of the pages are crinkled. I bought this Bible from the closeout section which said nothing about imperfections hence my disappointment. The most shocking thing about this Bible is that the entire Bible is copyrighted! This is perhaps because this isn't really a genuine facsimile of the 1611 King James Bible. I reached this conclusion based on two facts: 1) the font of the 1611 King James Bible was in a style called Jacobean not this Roman font.

    2) the 1611 has The Genealogies of the Holy Scriptures but are not included in this copy. The product value I have rated on the closeout sale price, it certainly isn't worth the original price. Disclaimer: I am not a book or binding expert whatsoever. I do love the Bible however and read it daily.

The calfskin version of this Bible is awesome as far as I am concerned. For daily reading it is a great size. I also own a 'real' super deluxe 32 lb 1611 King James facsimile in gothic script. This one is not as breathtaking but it was $900 cheaper. I am not sure why a few reviews were so low, Maybe the hardcover and genuine leather are not as nice as the calfskin.

Some complained the script was Roman, but if you look at the picture you would see that before you buy it. As I said I own a Gothic version and love it, but this is more functional for daily reading. If you are looking for an heirloom Bible for daily reading this is it. The calfskin is really nice and soft plus the Apocrypha is a refreshing bonus since most modern versions removed it.

Note: All personalized and Custom Thumb Indexed Bibles are non returnable unless defective. Font color will match the page edge color of the Bible (typically gold) and will be positioned at the bottom right of the front cover on most bibles. Certain specialty bibles may be imprinted differently at the imprinter's discretion, based on what they think will look best (such as bibles with a snap flap or an abnormal size). The KJV Store recommends Block - Upper & Lower lettering for personalization. Orders including Name Imprinting and/or Custom Thumb-Indexing may require up to two (2) Additional Business Days to Ship.

Oxford is proud to announce a limited edition of the 1611 text of the King James Bible, with real leather binding, gilt edging, ribbon marker, gift presentation plate, and protective cloth slipcase. This is the most authoritative edition of the King James Bible available. The text of the 1611 edition differs from modern editions of the King James Version in thousands of details, and this edition is the most authentic version of the original text that has ever been published. It follows the 1611 text page-for-page and line-for-line, reproducing all misprints rather than correcting them. The volume also reprints the large body of preliminary matter, which includes genealogies, maps, and lists of readings, as well as the translator's preface to the reader. The text features an easy-to-read modern font instead of the black-letter type of the original, with the exception of the original decorative letters and early page ornaments, which have been reproduced.

The volume concludes with an essay by Renaissance Studies expert, Gordon Campbell, on the first edition of the King James Bible. The four hundredth anniversary of the publication of the King James Bible will be a major event, with celebrations held all over the world. This beautiful Anniversary Edition will make an elegant keepsake with which to remember this event as well as a marvelous gift for anyone interested in the Bible. Awesome Bible. Every KJV reader needs to buy this Bible - Review by william This 400th anniversary Bible is as good as it gets. True to 1611 text. Quality Bible.

I have 4 of them and have given a couple to good friends. They couldn't believe the difference between today's version and the original. Oxford should be proud of this effort to bring it as close as possible to the original. Even spelling is same as in 1611. Thank you KJV store for selling this. Haven't found these anywhere else.

Buy before stock runs out. (Posted on 7/24/14).
